Tourism on the island is low profile compared to many of the other Caribbean destinations; consequently St. Lucia remains not only pristine, but also very relaxed and friendly. Among the many great assets of the glorious low-key island is a welcoming population that enjoys sharing information about their island home and culture.
- St. Lucian’s speak English, which is the official language, and also a French Creole commonly called patois.
- Same time zone (EST) as the east coast of the USA (Miami/New York) during daylight savings time (approximately April-October) and one hour ahead of the east coast of the USA the remainder of the year.
- The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC$) is the official currency, although US Dollars are commonly accepted.
